SUFFERING is a faceless, enigmatic entity born in 2012 amidst the bleak landscapes of the West Midlands, UK. Rooted in the raw, unrelenting sounds of black metal, the band weaves together elements of doom and depressive suicidal black metal (DSBM), creating a sonic tapestry that delves into the darkest corners of the human psyche. Their music is a ritualistic exploration of the occult, drawing inspiration from the worship of the goddess Lilith, Satan, death, and the existential torment of the human condition.
Over the years, SUFFERING has undergone several lineup changes, with only vocalist Sturmgeist Fornicator Insultus and drummer Malleus remaining as the core members. The band has since solidified its lineup with the addition of Aýdlig on guitar and Inquinatus on bass, achieving a fuller, more potent sound that reflects their evolution as artists.
SUFFERING’s discography is a testament to their growth and dedication to their craft. Their debut full-length album, 11, was released in 2018, marking a significant milestone in their journey. This was followed by two acclaimed EPs: Temen-Ni-Gru (11:11) in 2022 and the 2024 masterpiece Symphonies: Diabolis, a haunting fusion of blackened doom that has cemented their place in the underground metal scene.
Influenced by the likes of Shining, Bethlehem, Marduk, Mayhem, Lifelover, and Silencer, SUFFERING’s sound is both a homage to the pioneers of black metal and a unique expression of their own vision.
